Growing up, my mom would leave my brother and me note cards of inspirational sayings and quotes taped to our bathroom mirror or mailed to our college dorms. I have saved many of them over the years (some frames, other tacked to bulletin boards) and have recently come to understand that this is the reason I have such an affinity towards quotes turned into art in the home.
Yes we have all seen the "Keep Calm and Carry On" posters, but these days, you can turn almost any quote into a work of art. In fact I recently purchased this large canvas of my favorite E.E. Cummings poem from a seller on Etsy.
There are many ways to display a quote as art or decor. It can be etched into the bones of your home, panted directly on your walls, or simply shown in the form of a framed poster or two. Displayed by itself or with other art, quotes are a great way to add a personal touch to any home, and that added boost of good vibes can't hurt either!
What do you think?
My mum did this too in uni, usually with a mini bag of sweets!!

I adore quotes in houses -- I think it says so much about the owner.

I don't know why but I think text on mirrors is the coolest thing. Putting a quote in the shower with tiles is ingenious!! I'd have to think of a pretty awesome one to do it though. I have chalkboard walls in our breakfast nook so maybe I need to put up a sweet quote...too bad my handwriting is horrendous!! haha xoox
ReplyDeleteI too am inspired by quotes. Words are so inspiring. They capture the essence of a person, what they stand for, and what they believe in.
