Homemade Green Smoothie

By Lauren

Whether pregnant like me, or just looking for a healthy kick start to your morning, this delicious smoothie that I've created with a bit of trial and error is the perfect breakfast. I was looking for a way to get more dark leafy greens into my diet, so I created a kale and fruit drink with a dash of spirulina for energy and brain health.

Ingredients:

Non-Fat Greek Yogurt
Kale
Mango or Orange Juice
Strawberries
Another fruit of your choice - I used a nectarine
1 tbsp Spirulina Powder

The amount of each ingredient is up to you and your taste buds, but try to pack in a lot of kale.

First mix the yogurt, kale, and juice so you have a good base to add all the sweet fruits. This will also help it blend more smoothly.

Then you add your washed fruits. A handful of strawberries and a nectarine add natural sweetness to mask the kale.

Then the secret, tasteless, ingredient is added last. Spirulina is a dietary supplement that helps brain health, is high in protein, boosts energy and is filled with vitamins.

Et Viola! It may look green and scary, but it's actually sweet and delicious. Try it and let me know what you think. Drink Up!
