Wedding Wednesday: Wedding Day Makeup

By Julie

I'm super excited to be sharing some of the amazing make-up and beauty tips from my very own bridal make-up artist, Rachel Reiman. Rachel came highly recommended to me and I knew she was 'the one' the minute I saw some of her beautifully natural and editorial-like work on her website, but it was all confirmed once I got a hint of her laid-back and sweet personality. All key in making the day go as smoothly {and pretty} as possible.
Today, she's here at B&B sharing how to pick your wedding day looks.

After 15 plus years in the wedding beauty business, I've never heard a bride say, "I want to look completely different than I do everyday." The common theme is beautiful women wanting to look more beautiful on the most special day of their lives. Brides should be a more glamorous version of themselves, whatever that means to them. This is what I love about my job... showing them what that more glamorous, extra beautiful version looks like.

My tips of picking your wedding day looks are:

1. Perfect skin is key.

Everyone wants that bride glow. Airbrush foundation, applied lightly with bronzer and a glow-y blush... instantly flawless.

Hydrate and get facials leading up to the wedding, but don't be afraid of wearing foundation and powder- the works. It's a long day.

2. Bust out those lashes girl!

I have to admit I am sad when a bride says she doesn't want to wear individual falsies. They are so comfortable and natural yet uber glam.

3. Incorporate trends, but don't go overboard.

I feel like brides should look somewhat classic with their makeup but their personality should show up in there too. I love the pop lip for instance- but hot pink or orange-y red might not be best on your wedding day. I would just do a more toned down or sheer version of that.

Smoky eyes are fantastic for brides... I just don't go night club worthy.

Do your research, ask friends, read reviews. Finding a great makeup artist can be a challenge, but it's worth every penny. It's your face ladies. This is critical and deserves just as much effort as finding that perfect dress.

Can't wait to see what Rachel creates for me on the big day... 8 months and counting.
