Penny Loafers Part II

By Lauren

On Tuesday we all got to see how Julie wears her red Tory Burch penny loafers...and now it's my turn. We love these bad boys because they easily can be worn for a casual evening (the way Julie wore them) or for a fancier occasion with a little skirt.

How would you wear this fall's hottest trend, the penny loafer?

Shoes: Tory Burch, Skirt: Emerson Thorp, Denim Shirt: JCrew, Tank Top: Edith A Miller, Leather Jacket: Michael Kors

Fall Monochrome

By Julie

I guess not much has changed for me this year-- I still love mixing warm fall colors with pops of print and color. Similar to this look, I can't get enough of this cozy burgundy shade.

Sweater: Joie, Corduroy: Blank Denim, Shoes: c/o Tory Burch, Bag: Phillip Lim
Glasses: Ralph Lauren
I love how the shoes bring out the bright nubby details of the sweater.

Nothing says fall quite like elbow patches and penny loafers.

B&B @ NYDC

By Lauren

Last week I got to preview the inventive new pieces at the Cliff Young Ltd. showroom in the New York Design Center at their annual event called "What's New What's Next." I literally wanted it all, and took serious notes for upcoming married life!

Officially Obsessed.

By Julie

Ok, I admit-- I seriously go crazy for a good blow dry. I make all sorts of excuses for a blow out and spend waaaay too much on it for any type of celebration (like here and here), but I just can't seem to do it the same myself. Know the feeling?!

Well, my problems were solved last week when a friend of mine from work turned me on to DryBar NYC! All blow outs are $40 (compared to the usual over-priced NYC blowout for $65+)! Crazy.
You 'pick your poison' like any other Manhattan bar-- anything from Mai Tais to Southern Comforts to Shirley Temples are available! How cute?

With no cuts or color available, this DryBar is right up my alley. A quick stop for a look that lasts for long. Genius. I absolutely love this idea and have no doubt that the new Manhattan location will be blowing up fast! No pun intended.

I'm a Cosmopolitan girl myself.

Guest Post: Simply Irresistible

By Julie and Lauren

Today, darling Lara from Simply Irresistible asked us to come by and share all the reasons why we love NYC. Make sure to check out her blog! Such fun stuff to share.

After all, NYC is is one of our favorite subjects so we jumped at the chance to share our favorites. With so much to share, so little time-- we hope this gives you a glimpse as to why we love life in the city that never sleeps.

One of our favorite views from Central Park
Julie: I've lived in New York for 4 years.
Lauren: I've lived in New York for forever! Born and raised.

Julie: My favorite shopping spot is Otte NY in TriBeCa.
Lauren: My favorite shopping spot is Intermix and Lower East Side boutiques.

Julie and Lauren: One hidden gem in New York is—the Odeon’s ice cream cart—I can’t get enough!

Julie and Lauren: When I have visitors, three places I insist on taking them are dinner at a Mario Batali restaurant, a walk through Central Park, and cocktails near the High Line.

We love the Waverly Inn-- especially that crazy Mac 'n Cheese!

Julie and Lauren: If I have a free day in the city, you'll likely find me at SoulCycle and shopping in SoHo or Meat Packing.

Julie: One neighborhood I'd love to live in is the West Village because of the adorable tree-lined streets and great shopping and restaurants. A true neighborhood feel.

Lauren: One neighborhood I'd love to live in is Brooklyn- amazing spaces and views of the city!

An amazing Tribeca loft. Hey- a girl can dream, right?!

Julie: My favorite season in the city is summer because the city clears out on the weekends and you can get any res you want on a Saturday night!

Lauren: My favorite season in the city is Fall because the weather is gorgeous and everyone is back in the city. Such a fun time to explore!

Julie and Lauren: If I could describe New York in three words they would be enigmatic, vibrant & fresh.

Julie: My favorite thing about NY is the endless opportunities.
Lauren: My favorite thing about NY is the amazing people on the streets- such personal style and different walks of life.

Julie: Although I love NY, if I could move to one other city tomorrow it would be LA! Hands down. Or Tokyo if I was feeling really adventurous!

Lauren: Although I love NY, if I could move to one other city tomorrow it would be possibly London! But it would be hard for me to ever leave NYC!

Love at First Waverly

By Lauren

This past weekend I got engaged to my favorite person on the planet and couldn't be happier. To celebrate the occasion we went to dinner at the Waverly Inn, where we first met. What a cool little spot in the West Village that is perfect for date night or a small group of friends...hey you never know where it might end up!

Anyway, the truffle mac n'cheese is out of this world, not to mention the burger, the steak for two and the grilled calamari salad. Oh and don't forget a side of crispy onion rings. It's a true gem and one that I have a bit of a soft spot for.

Forever 70s

By Julie

It's always fun to be inspired by past decades and everywhere I look this season I see hints of the 70s in modern day looks. Everything from colored cords, suede booties, bell bottoms to wide floppy hats, these retro revivals are certainly making a comeback!

Listed Clockwise

It doesn't take much to complete the look, but hits from the Mamas and Papas and Led Zepplin playing in the background might help get you in the zone!

Are you guys rocking looks from the 70s this season?

Birthday Celebration!

By Julie

A big thanks to all my sweet friends who helped me celebrate my 27th! I'm a lucky girl.

Macau Trading Company
311 Church Street
212- 431-8750

We had dinner and drinks at Macao Trading Company in Tribeca. We couldn't get enough of the mushroom truffle croquettes, asparagus salad with poached egg and wagyu beef entree. Oh, and don't forget the donuts for desserts. The lights are dim setting a mysterious, yet lively ambiance. The cocktails are nothing short of flavorful and refreshing-- I had an amazing margarita with hints of grapefruit.

I may have had a 'mature' birthday dinner, but we're never too old for nerd glasses and party hats now are we?! No way.

Party Dress

By Julie

Dress: Zara, Clutch: SCOOP (similar here), Cuff: Hermes, Booties: ALDO (similar here)

You only turn 27 once and I think any birthday celebration calls for a fun party dress! I especially loved this one because of the low back-- forced me to really embrace my new haircut.
What do you guys think?! You can be honest : )

Tomorrow you'll see how we celebrated! Wow, it's been a crazy week. What a whirlwind.

Wes Gordon Spring 2012 Presentation

By Lauren

Fashion week is in full swing with runway shows, presentations, and after-parties scheduled for every minute of every day. My first stop was to Wes Gordon's Spring 2012 presentation at the Hosfelt Gallery last Thursday.

The pieces were beautiful and perfectly tailored. Every look was feminine, yet edgy and styled from head to toe. From the bow shoes to the Mary-Janes, Wes designed every shoe with Manolo Blahnik to ensure the looks were executed perfectly.

The sophistication Wes brings to his designs make it hard to believe he is only 25 years old!

Wes Gordon

What an amazing talent! Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
