Lines We Love: Blake Brody In-Studio-Footwear

By Julie

Whenever Lauren and I go to our Core Sport classes, I am grossed out by the no-shoes or socks policy. As clean and sanitized as the studio may be, there can always be a bit more protection between us and our mats. So, when a friend recently introduced me to a new line of fashion-conscious and eco-friendly workout shoes, Blake Brody In-Studio-Footwear™, I was eager to learn more about it...

Resembling ballet flats, these technically-engineered kickers are meant to be used during studio activities like yoga and Pilates. Purposefully bearing no resemblance to sneakers or athletic socks, the chic designs result in a stylish shoe that encourages stability, prevents cramping, and protects against moisture, irritants and bacterias. Phew.

My favorite part of this line is that only humane and recycled materials are used to make the shoes, packaging and marketing materials.

Fashion, function and fitness- three of my favorite things!

Gwen Does the Can-Cannes

By Lauren and Julie

With beautiful and talented celebrities descending on France's Southern coast for this year's Cannes Film Festival, we've had our eyes out for amazing fashion moments. Though we have seen some insane gowns, Gwen Stefani has been rocking it out in perfect ensembles both day and night all week long.  She keeps her rock star edge with every classic silhouette so we never forget our favorite member of No Doubt!

Orange You Glad I'm Wearing My Espadrilles

By Lauren

Thought I would share with you what I wore yesterday. I took these pictures while I was running out the door so I apologize for the boring background. Remember these shoes from our Time Warner Center shoot? Julie and I swapped at the end of that long day and I have been waiting to crack these babies out ever since.

The Tibi silk pants are my new favorite thing on the planet and the Kain tee-shirt I have in 4 colors and wear them all summer because they are so light-weight.

Shoes: J.Crew; Pants: Tibi; Tee: Kain; Stone Ring: YSL

My favorite gum is Bubble Yum and I just had to show you guys how good of a bubble blower I am . It has taken many years of practice!
What did you wear today?

Oprah: 25 Years of Style

By Julie and Lauren

Today marks the final episode ever of the Oprah Winfrey show. Some of you might not care at all, some might laugh, but if you're anything like us, we're in all black today to mourn the end of an era! Ok not really all black, but you get what we're trying to say.

To commemorate the end of her 25 year run, we are taking a look back at her bold fashion choices because you don't have to be an Oprah fanatic (who us?!?) to appreciate them. From shoulder pads to ball gowns to skinny jeans, Oprah has certainly left her mark in the style department. Hey, we've all had those 'what were we thinking moments', right?! We're celebrating her ability to always look good in whatever size she was wearing while simultaneously changing the world; that is not a small feat.

So a big cheers to our gal, Opi! We can't wait to see what you will do next...
Our DVR will never be the same!

Guest Post: See Jane Honeymoon

By Julie and Lauren

A big congratulations to one of our dearest blogger friends, Anna from See Jane Work Play Live, on her wedding!

While Anna's off to Mexico getting hitched and honeymooning, B&B has been called to fill in- what a treat!! We can only imagine how crazed Anna must be tying together all the last minute details. We figured we could leave all the dirty details (use your imagination) to Anna's trusted bridal party, soo we decided to focus on what we consider to be the 'fun' stuff... honeymoon attire. Duh!

Don't forget to pack a good book and sunblock!

Wishing you and your darling hubby a lifetime of health and happiness.

Just Another Manic Monday

By Julie

Happy Monday, loves.

I've missed you all! I'm certainly ready to get back into the swing of things. Easier said than done sometimes though, you know? It's been three days since I returned from China and I'm still not quite feeling like myself. Maybe I just haven't kicked the jet lag quite yet.

I'll tell you one thing though, these sequins certainly put a smile on my face and remind me of all the glittering soirees I have to look forward to this summer.
Any fun summer plans?! Do share.

Wishing you all a sparkly week!
XOXO

Happy Friday

By Lauren and Julie

It's been a long week of dreary weather, business trips, and charity work so we are both glad to see the sun struggle through in time for the weekend. As a cheery send-off to the work-week, we wanted to show you Mr. Newton's muse, Miss Hanneli. We don't know her, but we love her already. Her street style in these images is something to be emulated. So we've shared her pictures with you from Mr. Newton's site in hopes that she can be your muse too for your weekend wardrobe and perhaps even inspire a sunny disposition.

Enjoy and Happy Friday!

Burgers and Sushi and Style Oh My

By Lauren

Last night I had one of the best culinary experiences that I have ever had in this city at the new restaurant Co-op Food & Drink! My dear friend Alan Phillips invited me to attend an exclusive tasting at his newest venture as part of the Guerrilla Culinary Brigade at the Hotel on Rivington before it even opened to the public and what a treat it was!!

From the miso black cod to the shrimp tempura tacos, every bite was better than the next. The incredible first impression however, was made by the beautifully decorated space. The room is covered in over-sized Polaroids of famed New Yorkers such as Betsy Johnson, Moby, Patrick McMullan, Debbie Harry, Patricia Field and my good friend Gelareh Mizrahi to name a few.

This modern American brasserie and sushi bar serves food that is locally sourced and meant to be shared. Though I definitely wasn't so keen on sharing my truffle french fries! (I die for all things truffle!)
Chef John Keller of Le Bernardin and Nobu combines his American flair with the Asian flavors of chef Stephen "Neo" Wong of Sushi of Gari and Megu, to create a delicious global experience in the heart of Manhattan.

You must check this place out with friends, family, or a date because it is not to be missed and I cannot say enough great things. You just have to see for yourself!

Kate Moss Extravaganza

By Lauren

Oh how I love New York! Where else can  you find an entire photography exhibit dedicated to the style icon Kate Moss? The Danziger Project gallery has literally turned into Mecca for Kate Moss fans, opening a two-room exhibit called The Kate Moss Portfolio featuring prints from such esteemed photographers as Herb Ritts, Chuck Close, Mario Testino and Annie Leibovitz.

In her 23 year career, Kate Moss has turned herself into one of the most unique models becoming an artistic muse for many of the world's leading photographers and designers. Whether she is dressed, or undressed, Kate Moss never apologizes for who she is, bringing her strong personality to every image.

Her topless appearance in the Calvin Klein ads launched her career and impacted our culture. Someone like this definitely deserves an entire exhibit!
